Checking and Cleaning Wiper Blades Tesla Model Y

Clean the wiper blades' edges on a regular basis, and inspect the rubber for cracks, splits, and roughness. If the blade becomes damaged, replace it right away to avoid harm to the glass and increase visibility.

See Wipers and Washers.

Contaminants on the windshield or on the wiper blades can make the wipers less effective. Ice, wax spray from car washes, washer fluid containing bug and/or water repellant, bird droppings, tree sap, and other organic substances are among the contaminants.

Follow these guidelines for cleaning:

  • Use washer fluid, isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol, or a non-abrasive glass cleaner approved for use on automotive glass and rubber to clean the windshield and wiper blades. Inappropriate products might cause stains or damage to the windshield, as well as glare.
  • Lift the wiper arm just far enough away from the windshield to provide access to the wiper blade. Lift a wiper arm only as far as it needs to go.

Replace the wiper blades if the wipers are still ineffective after cleaning.

See Replacing Wiper Blades.
