Autopark with Autopilot Tesla Model Y
Autopark (if available) simplifies parking on public roadways by moving the Model Y into parallel and perpendicular parking spaces using data from ultrasonic sensors and GPS.
Caution: Make sure all cameras and sensors are in good working order. Autopilot performance can be harmed by dirty cameras and sensors, as well as weather conditions like rain and faded lane lines.
Warning: The ability of the ultrasonic sensors to recognise the vehicle's closeness to curbs, objects, and other cars is critical to Autopark's performance.
See Autopilot Overview and Features.
To allow Autopark to steer Model Y into a parking place while driving, follow these steps:
- Keep an eye on the touchscreen while driving slowly on a public road to see if Autopark has detected a parking place. The touchscreen displays a parking icon when Autopark detects a potential parking space. When driving below 15 mph (24 km/h), Autopark finds parallel parking locations, and perpendicular parking locations when driving below 10 mph (16 km/h).
Note: Only if the vehicle's position and/or the circumstances of the surrounding region allow Autopark to establish an appropriate driving path will the parking icon display. You can either relocate the vehicle, choose a different parking place, or park manually if Autopark is unable to calculate a suitable path (for example, while driving on a small street and advancing into the parking space causes the front of the vehicle to extend into the neighbouring lane).
- Check to see if the parking space that has been found is appropriate and safe. If this is the case, pull forwards and come to a complete stop about a car length ahead of the parking place (as you would while parallel parking or backing into a perpendicular parking space).
- Take your hands off the wheel, shift the Model Y into reverse, and then press the Start Autopark button on the touchscreen.
- When the parking is finished, Autopark displays the message "Complete."
When Autopark is unable to operate owing to insufficient sensor data, the touchscreen displays a message instructing you to manually park your Model Y.
Note: If you engage the brake while Autopark is parking the Model Y, the parking operation will be paused until you press the Resume button on the touchscreen.
Note: Autopark finds potential perpendicular parking spaces with a car parked on either side that are at least 9.5 feet (2.9 metres) wide. Parallel parking spaces that are at least 20 feet (6 metres) long but less than 30 feet (9 metres) long are detected by Autopark. Angled parking slots are not serviced by Autopark.
Warning: Never rely on Autopark to find a legal, acceptable, and safe parking space. Objects in the parking spot may not always be detected by Autopark. Always conduct visual assessments to ensure that a parking place is suitable and secure.
Warning: The steering wheel moves in accordance with Autopark's changes when Autopark is actively guiding Model Y. Avoid interfering with the steering wheel's movement. Autopark will be cancelled if you do so.
Warning: Keep an eye on your surroundings throughout the parking routine. Be ready to apply the brakes in order to avoid hitting other vehicles, pedestrians, or objects.
Warning: While Autopark is engaged, keep an eye on the touchscreen to make sure you're following the instructions.
To Pause Parking
Press the brake pedal once to pause Autopark. The Model Y will halt and stay paused until you press the Resume button on the touchscreen.
To Cancel Parking
When you physically move the steering wheel, change gears, or press Cancel on the touchscreen, Autopark cancels the parking sequence. When the parking sequence reaches seven moves, Autopark cancels the parking.
- When the driver exits the vehicle, the Model Y senses it.
- A door is thrown open.
- You stomp on the gas pedal.
- While Autopark is paused, you push the brake pedal.
- There is an Automatic Emergency Braking incident.
Limitations
In the following scenarios, Autopark is unlikely to work as intended: • The road is slanted. Autopark is only meant to be used on flat roads.
- Visibility is poor (due to rain, snow, fog, and other factors).
- The kerb is made of something other than stone, or the kerb is undetectable.
- The target parking place (for example, the last parking space in a row in an underground parking facility) is right near to a wall or pillar.
- One or more ultrasonic sensors are broken, unclean, or obstructed (by mud, ice, or snow, for example).
- Other electrical equipment or gadgets that create ultrasonic waves have an impact on the sensors.
Warning: Autopark's ability to park Model Y may be hampered by a variety of unforeseen conditions. Keep this in mind, and keep in mind that Autopark may not be able to steer Model Y properly as a result. When parking the Model Y, pay attention and be ready to take control right away.Weather conditions are interfering with sensor operation (heavy rain, snow, fog, or unusually hot or cold temperatures).
