The tiny Fiat 500e has overtaken Tesla sales in the west European electric vehicle market. It is the first time Tesla has lost this lead in 18 months.
Tesla has likely been affected the hardest by Covid-19 lockdowns in China since it has lost its dominant position in the global and European EV market over the past five years. The impact of Tesla's Shanghai facility closing was felt by the EV market across Europe, where Tesla's Berlin Gigafactory still barely meets a quarter of demand for its electric cars.
Fiat 500e Specs
The electric version of the traditional Italian hatchback, the Fiat 500e, has received favorable reviews from the automotive press. According to Fiat, all non-electric vehicles will no longer be offered for sale in parts of Europe. With this change, all new Fiat vehicles sold after July 1st 2022 will be electric vehicles (EVs) or hybrids. Fiat offers a low-emission version of every vehicle it produces - that is either PHEV or MHEV electric. It also claims that in 11 countries, the completely electric Fiat 500, the first fully electric Fiat created from the ground up, is presently the best-selling electric city car.
It is a symbol of the European auto industry and was instrumental in Italy's development more than 60 years ago. In 2007, the original design was redone, revamped, and reintroduced to the mainstream automobile world.
A 42-kWh lithium-ion battery powers an 87-kW electric motor that was installed in place of the 500's internal combustion engines. The vehicle's plug is located on the back side, and the battery provides up to 320 km of range according to the WLTP cycle. With this power unit, you can accelerate from 0 to 100 kph (0-62 mph) in 9 seconds and from 0 to 50 kph (0-31 mph) in just 3.1 seconds. The maximum speed is 130 kph.
The car is capable of being charged in a variety of ways, and it also has a charging device that can be used at home or in any ordinary 220v outlet. For quicker charging, a charging wall-box is offered as an option. It can be charged up to 80% in 35 minutes using the fast-charge option at public charging stations.
Fiat 500e Interior
Since the Fiat 500 has also emerged as a symbol of sustainability, there are numerous recycled components within the car. Together with a 10.25" Touch Screen infotainment display, a 7" TFT serves as the dashboard.
Driving Modes
You can choose from the Normal, Range, or Sherpa driving modes on the New 500 to suit your driving preferences.
Sherpa mode makes the best use of the resources at hand to guarantee your arrival. To guarantee that you can comfortably reach either the location entered into the navigation system or the closest charging station, Sherpa driving mode works on a number of components to minimize energy consumption.
Similar to a Himalayan Sherpa, who oversees an entire expedition and leads you to its destination, this driving mode modifies a number of factors, including the vehicle's top speed, which is capped at 80 km/h, the accelerator response to minimize energy consumption, and the deactivation of the climate control and heated seats (the driver has the option of activating them at any time).
Driving in Range mode engages the one-pedal-drive feature, while Normal mode is as similar to operating a car with a typical combustion engine as is possible. You can nearly operate the New 500 with just the accelerator pedal by choosing this driving mode. In fact, releasing it results in a significant amount more acceleration than with a typical combustion engine, nearly as if the brake pedal had been depressed. In any case, to stop the car entirely, you must press the brake pedal. You can eventually master driving it only with the accelerator pedal, though, with more practice and everyday use.
