At this point, electric vehicles are reaching the pinnacle of their evolution. With established manufacturers embracing the technological revolution, the EV industry is witnessing a dramatic upheaval. And Maserati is the most recent company that is prepared to enter the Electric arena.
After introducing an EV version of its new Grecale compact SUV, Italian carmaker Maserati is now a two-time participant in the electric vehicle market with the GranTurismo Folgore of 2024. Every Maserati electric vehicle will have the name Folgore, which translates to "lightning" in Italian. The GranTurismo Folgore promises some “lightning-quick” acceleration along with its high-voltage moniker.
The vehicle will be able to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.7 seconds, claims Maserati. Three electric motors with a combined 818 horsepower will be needed to reach that quantity. When the Italian automanufacturer puts the Folgore on sale, it will represent the flagship model of the Maserati line. It will go on sale with the GranTurismo powered by gasoline, is expected to arrive on dealer lots before the end of 2023. And it will be interesting to see how it will fair against the Tesla Roadster.
Maserati initially revealed its tentative plans for electrification back in 2019. The Ghibli hybrid sedan was the first to go on sale, and the MC20 supercar with its own battery-electric variant scheduled to follow in 2022.

Performance and Power
Three electric motors deliver a combined 818 horsepower to the GranTurismo Folgore's four wheels. Three motors are employed, one for the front axle and two each for the individual back wheels. It enables a torque-vectoring characteristic that resembles a limited-slip differential.
Range and Battery
The estimated driving range of an 83.0 kWh battery pack is 240 miles. Maserati claims that the GranTurismo Folgore can be fast charged at up to a 270 kW connection, adding 100 km to the range in under 5 minutes by their standards.
Interior
The GranTurismo Folgore is a four seater with luxurious and comfortable interior. Although you wouldn't know it by looking at it, the interior of the car is designed with sustainable materials, including upholstery created from recycled fishing nets that were found in the ocean. The Maserati GranCabrio's trunk capacity will probably be diminished to make room for stowing a folding fabric roof.
Infotainment
A 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen running Maserati's most recent Google-based infotainment system is included on all GranTurismo versions. Moreover, a secondary 8.8-inch touchscreen that serves as the climate control panel is present, as are wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Also available are a head-up display and a Sonus Faber-tuned 19-speaker premium stereo system.
Driver-Assisted Features
The GranTurismo Folgore comes equipped with a number of driver-assistance functions, it is anticipated that additional cutting-edge technology will be an option. Maserati's gasoline-powered cars were not doing well. They were infamous for having service problems and low dependability. Yet with the introduction of electrification, all of that may change. Despite arriving fairly late, the Italian marque intends to make a dramatic and strategic arrival.
