Hyundai Takes Focus

Hyundai Takes Focus

Hyundai sold 92% totally electric vehicles in Norway between 2020 and 2022, so the recent declaration from the EV maker makes sense. Starting on January 1st, 2023, Hyundai will only sell fully electric vehicles in the Norwegian market. As a result, Norway becomes Hyundai's first EV-only market globally. The daring decision by one of Norway's top-selling automakers seems somewhat foreseeable. The switch was less difficult than it seems because over 90% of Hyundai's sales in Norway in recent years have been electric vehicles.

Hyundai has only ever offered the Ioniq and the Kona Electric as fully electric vehicles. However, those two models ended up being among the most well-liked in Norway, where EVs have always dominated the market. So it is going to stop selling the rest of its ICE-only lineup in Norway starting in 2020 and only offer EVs and PHEVs. By discontinuing the Tucson and Santa Fe plug-in hybrid versions, the automaker is now going one step further. Hyundai didn't say whether the Nexo, which runs on hydrogen and has electric motors to produce no emissions, will continue to be sold.

Hyundai Ioniq 6

Hyundai launched its EV sales in 2016 with the launch of the original Ioniq. The Kona Electric and Ioniq 5 followed later. Hyundai recently unveiled the all-new Ioniq 6, which will aid in expanding its EV sales even more as seen by the substantial volume of pre-orders in European countries.

The 2,500 Ioniq 6 First Edition units that were made available in Germany, the UK, France, Norway, and the Netherlands last month sold out in less than 24 hours. Hyundai will shortly introduce the new Kona Electric generation. In the near future, more EVs, notably the Ioniq 7 SUV, are anticipated to go on sale, expanding Hyundai's product lineup to include more well-liked segments.

Latest Addition

The week leading up to Christmas is often quiet, but Hyundai has upended this custom by revealing the 2024 Kona. The upscaled model boasts a daring new design that is ruggedly futuristic and noticeably more upscale appearing. It is expected to be a significant upgrade over its predecessor.

All Konas have a curving nose with a thin Seamless Horizon Lamp that nearly fills the whole width of the car, despite the modest visual differences between each variation. The electric version expands on this by adding a pixelated version of the light, 19-inch alloy wheels designed with pixel designs, and a blocked-off intake.

With plastic body cladding, a fake skid plate, and a more assertive front bumper with triangle intakes that seem to be sealed off, the ICE and hybrid variants have a more tough appearance. The N Line, on the other hand, sports distinctive 19-inch alloy wheels, distinctive front and rear bumpers, and silver side skirts. Additionally, the vehicle can be ordered with black mirrors and a roof.

Hyundai said that, in contrast to most automobiles, the Kona EV was originally designed before the ICE, hybrid, and N Line models. Hyundai was able to apply tech-centric design thinking to all Kona models, according to the firm, thanks to this unconventional approach.

Hyundai stated that the crossover is 5.9 inches (150 mm) longer than its predecessor and is now 171.5 inches (4,355 mm) long. Detailed details will be disclosed in the upcoming months. The distance between the wheels is increased by 2.4 inches (60 mm), and the Kona is also 1 inch (25 mm) wider than previously. Legroom in the back seats should increase as a result, making the interior more hospitable.

Speaking of the inside, the cabin receives a considerable update thanks to a makeover inspired by the Ioniq 5. As you can see, the crossover has a matched 12.3-inch infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital entertaintainment system.

A floating dashboard and a curving centre stack with a variety of physical controls are also present. To create a uncluttered arrangement and more space for possessions in the centre tunnel, the shifter has also been moved, and it now rests on the steering column.

2024 Kona Interior

The bench seat in the back, which is curve-less, was designed with the backseat passengers in mind and reinforces Kona's 21st century urban design approach. Even if that's a little ambiguous, Hyundai claimed the second row will provide a unique experience with optimal utility, comfort, and convenience. The business continued by claiming that freight space had also been maximised.

A 64.8 kWh battery pack that drives a 201 horsepower (150 kW / 204 PS) electric motor might be found in the Kona EV. The crossover may have a range of about 253 miles with this configuration (407 km).
