Tesla's New "Passenger Face Vent" Feature Saves Up Energy

Tesla's New "Passenger Face Vent" Feature Saves Up Energy

Just when you think Tesla will take a break after the announcement of Giga Texas and the pre-fab rapid construction of Giga Berlin, they come up with a new software update.

Passenger Face Vent got the newest update, 2020.28.5, that’s not only detecting if there’s a passenger in the car or not but also saves up energy by regulating the air vents.

When things can’t get any better, they actually can, because we are talking about the brilliant Tesla technology.

The rollout of the new software upgrade is only available for Model Y for now, and it will control the climate only according to the driver when it can’t detect a passenger.

A car that detects passengers sounds like a Sci-Fi movie, but it’s more than real.

The new feature is designed to save up energy.

Air conditioning and venting in a car are consuming a lot of energy, whether it is an EV or an inner-combustion vehicle.

For this reason, Tesla invented a system that will only control the climate around the driver, when no one else around.

According to the company, there is no need to have operating vents near the passenger seats while the driver is alone.

This is an energy-saving feature that changes the way we see cars. The new Passenger Face Vent update works with sensors built in the seats to detect people.

When no person is detected, the air vents remain off. People can use the new feature manually as well.

Available only for Model Y, the 2020.28.5 update is already hitting the EV market, with the first installations reported on July 20.

The new software is saving energy, but not too much. However, it is great to see that Tesla keeps working on improving efficiency.

By doing so, the company will use fewer cells in the batteries, which can lower the cost of the vehicles in the future.

Small changes in the car software will lead to better performance in the long run.
