The Classic Aston Martin Gets an EV Overhaul

Lunaz has presented a battery-powered replica of the Aston Martin DB6, with costs starting at over $1 million (£733,000) for a limited run. The new Aston Martin DB6 conversions are planned to be delivered in the third quarter of 2023. Electrified DB4s and DB5s will also be made to order in extremely limited numbers.

Lunaz Design, situated in Silverstone, England, is the world's top restoration and electrification firm. The company is known for injecting a dash of modernism into classic British automobiles. The brand's incredible engineering expertise lends itself to the electrification and perfect restoration of these masterpieces, with Lunaz's special projects including precious treasures like Jaguar, Bentley, and even Rolls-Royce.

The electrified beauties from Lunaz have a fascinating level of artistry. The Aston Martin DB6 is the most recent addition to the brand's modernized classics lineup. The electrification of the historic Aston Martin Grand Tourer adds to the total package's freshness, giving the nostalgic Grand Tourer a new lease on life in the modern era.

The process of customizing a historic car is time-consuming, but the ultimate result is undeniably satisfying. The overall construction of Lunaz's bespoke equipment exudes top-tier levels of excellence and unequalled technological prowess, bringing the restoration game to a whole new level.

The Restoration Process

The Aston Martin DB6 restoration necessitates stripping the elegant Grand Tourer down to bare metal and 3D scanning it. This crucial phase guarantees that a high-quality repair is completed, with the electrified DB6 retaining its original aesthetic charm.

The electric DB6's most major upgrades are hidden beneath its elegant tails appearance, with its brakes, suspension, and even steering system all getting a makeover to keep up with modern times and improve overall performance dynamics.

The Aston Martin DB6 EV's interior layout remains faithful to its original specification, with the most notable additions being an air conditioning system and a modern-day navigation system. The electrified Grand Tourer also has a 'Sensitive Integration' of entertainment systems with complete Wi-Fi connectivity, enhancing its excellent all-around modern personality even further.

The original Aston Martin DB6 had a 4.0-liter straight-six engine that produced 282 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque between 1965 and 1971. The highly skilled craftsmen at Lunaz, on the other hand, have replaced the Aston's powerful power mill with a modern in-house 80-120 kWh battery pack with a claimed driving range of 255 miles.

The Lunaz 80 kWh system has made an appearance on various additional bespoke Lunaz projects, including the Rolls-Royce Phantom V and Silver Cloud.

The extremely energetic powertrain produces 375 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque, and the tier-one battery pack is fitted with a CCS fast-charging system that allows for faster charging times.

The Lunaz Aston Martin DB6 EV is a stunning combination of sophisticated modern functionality and pure nostalgia. This edition of the beloved Grand Tourer manages to radiate unrivalled levels of refinement and flair, and its premium price tag is unsurprising. However, the creation's remarkable attention to detail and flawless craftsmanship partially justify the price tag.
