Gen 1 Mobile Connector Status Lights Tesla Model S
Under normal conditions, when charging is in progress, the Mobile Connector’s lights illuminate sequentially, and the red light is off. Identify problems by paying attention to these lights.
Note: In some cases, you may need to reset the device by pressing the RESET button located on the back.

Green Lights | Red Light | What it means | What to do |
All lights streaming | Off | Charging is currently in progress | Nothing is required. The Mobile Connector is successfully charging |
All on | Off | Power is on. The Mobile Connector is powered, but not currently charging, or the scheduled charging is enabled | Ensure the Mobile Connector is correctly plugged into the car. |
Off | 1 flash | There is a ground fault. The electrical current is leaking through a potentially hazardous path. | It should automatically reset within 15 minutes. If it does not, check that nobody is touching the cable or is sitting inside the car, then touch the RESET button. |
Off | 2 flashes | The Self-check failed | Disconnect the Mobile Connector from the car and touch the RESET button. Plug in the Mobile Connector back into the vehicle. If the error is not resolve, detach the Mobile Connector from the vehicle and the power outlet. Then plug it back in but first plug it into the outlet. |
Off | 3 flashes | The contactor has failed | Unplug the Mobile Connector from the car and then wait 10 seconds. If the error continues, contact your closest Service Center |
Off | 4 flashes | The ground assurance monitoring circuit detected loss of ground | Ensure the power outlet is correctly grounded. Try connect to a different outlet. If in doubt, consult an electrician |
Off | 5 flashes | Sense circuit fault | Ensure the Mobile Connector’s adapter is attached correctly |
Off | 6 flashes | Thermal fault | Try charge in a cooler area, which is indoors in a garage or under shade |
Off | More than 6 flashes | The Mobile Connector might need repairing | Contact your closest Service Center. |
Off | Off | Power is lost. | Unplug the Mobile Connector and check that the power outlet has power. |
